JEHRO
Jehro

[Recall, www.recallgroup.com]

Apparently, it was his Greek-Italian-Corsican mother that inspired Jehro's [aka Jérôme Cotta] imagination to take flight and take up singing full time.  Having spent most of his childhood in southern France, as an adult he made a move to London.  It was there that he developed a passion for reggae, Spanish and rock music alike.  First thing that got me about the record was Jehro's sweet voice.  This is sweetness in a most tender way possible.  Sweet as honey that lingers on your tongue from the very first listening session.  Even though he sings exclusively in English, the beauty and influence of southern climates clearly comes through.  There is a strong salsa feel to the record.  All of this comes wrapped up in a smooth reggae feel.  While percussion has soft meringue influences all over it, Jehro's guitar picking is definitely based in the blues.  His acoustic take of Stevie Wonder's "Master Blaster" is sparse, while retaining the edge of the original.  "Long is the Way" recalls the crooners [and I don't mean boy-band fodder either] from the past.  Pensive, melodically satisfying and hot as a tropical beach on a cloudless day, "Jehro" delivers the goods for the summer months ahead.
